Divisions 3 & 4: review of the weekend 18th - 19th June

There were only three matches played in Divisions 3 and 4 over the weekend, and I can only tell you about two of them.  Laois hosted Mullingar on Sunday in Division 4, lost by 22 runs, and haven't posted a scorecard:  “it's our ball, and you're not playing, so there”.  If there's anybody in Laois with a mental age in double figures (and I know there are), please tell us what happened.

In Division 3 on Sunday, Civil Service travelled to Oakhill, won the toss and asked the home team to set a score.  Siddique, Jenning and Butler went through the top and middle order to have Oakhill 50-7, but Akbar's belligerent 35 and Hastie's patient 13* saw them to 125 all out in 36 overs, a score boosted by 43 extras!  Butler's 31 and Ullah Chatha's 27 saw Service to the brink of victory, eventually achieved by four wickets.  The Wizard Hastie took 2/15 off 9.2 overs.

At Claremont Road in Division 4, Malahide 3 looked to be on the brink of victory when they had YMCA 2 142-7 chasing 215 all out.  For the Village People, Brian Gilmore had scored fifty and Reed, Manks and Horstmann twenties, but star contributor was Willie Wides with 45 out of 57 extras.  Wazza Armstrong took 3/25, Yacub Ali 2/37 and Jehangir 2/45.  For Malahide the wickets were shared around before Jehangir (43*) joined Hohn (36*) to put on an unbroken 75 to win the game.  For YMCA the contributions of Walker (49) and Willie Wides (35) should not go unnoticed.

In Division 3, Leinster 2 and Pembroke 2 are steaming away, with Balbriggan keeping the unwanted (by me, anyway) Dublin University in fourth place.  Clontarf 2 and Oakhill are adrift in the relegation places.  Railway Union 2 lead Division 4, while Malahide 3 look relegation certainties.
