If you want my latest match reports, photographs or weekend summaries, click 2011 to reach the 2011 main page, and now you can click 2012 to reach the 2012 main page.  Otherwise, feel free to rummage around.  This website is a learning exercise for me.  Until the end of July 2010 my cricket writing was carried by two websites, CricketEurope Ireland and Cover-Point, and I was happy with the arrangement.  All I had to do was write, and occasionally take some photographs.

My report of Bob Kerr Irish Senior Cup quarter final between The Hills and Waringstown, played at Milverton on July 23rd, appeared on the CricketEurope Ireland website on July 24th.  There was a complaint that my report had somehow attacked, or belittled, or insulted one the Waringstown team, Josh Hall.  Although the complainant didn't specify how my report did this, the website management removed the part of the sentence that was allegedly demeaning or insulting or offensive.

When I wrote a report for the same website of the LCU Division 1 match between Leinster and The Hills at Rathmines on July 25th, posted on July 26th, I started it by trying to explain how I write my reports and how I considered the reaction by some Waringstown connections to be, let's say, misguided, even disproportionate.  This led to more complaints from followers of the Co. Down club, and the website management removed both reports completely.

The managing director and the editor of the website met on July 27th and decided that they would no longer accept any reports from me.  I was informed of this on July 28th.

I set up this website to carry the reports I wrote for the rest of the 2010 season, starting with the two reports that were removed from the CricketEurope Ireland website, plus the intervening report of the LHW Senior Cup Final.  As you can see, I began to incorporate more photographs into my reports.  In 2011 I shall continue to post match reports on this site and to write for Cover-Point until it closes in mid-May.
